Travel
Travel to our Southeast Missouri hunting locations is straightforward and efficient. We are located in the heart of the Mississippi Flyway, easily accessible by vehicle via I-55 or US-60 from anywhere in the Midwest.
If you prefer to fly, you have several excellent options that put you within a short drive of the “Bootheel” and our prime hunting grounds:
-
Memphis International (MEM): Often the most convenient major hub, located just 1.5 to 2 hours south of our primary hunting areas.
-
St. Louis Lambert International (STL): A great option for those traveling from the north, offering a direct 2 to 2.5-hour drive south on I-55.
-
Cape Girardeau Regional (CGI): The closest regional option, putting you right in the middle of the action with minimal drive time.
After landing, simply rent a vehicle and head toward our hunting area. We’ll provide specific directions to the field or meeting location prior to your hunt to ensure you’re right on the birds.

MISSOURI SNOWGOOSE HUNTING TRIP FAQs

FAQs
-
-
When is the season and what is the weather like? Our Missouri season typically kicks off in late February and runs through March as the massive push of birds moves north from Arkansas. Be prepared for anything: Missouri weather is notoriously unpredictable. You might experience 70°F and sunny one day and 20°F with snow or driving rain the next. It is highly recommended that you bring full rain gear and waders. Southeast Missouri (the “Bootheel”) can turn from dry dirt to thick gumbo mud instantly. Expect mud at some point every day; always check with your guide regarding specific field conditions before the hunt.
-
How long do we hunt each day? We generally hunt all day to capitalize on mid-day migrator flights, unless your group specifically requests otherwise.
-
How many shells should I bring? Plan to bring at least 4 boxes of shells to the blind every day. While some days are slower, on “push” days it’s possible to shoot over a case per man, and shells can be difficult to find in rural Missouri mid-season. Our guides shoot 12-gauge 3” or 3.5” BB or #2 shells, which is what we recommend for maximum knockdown power.
-
What about bird storage? Bring large coolers and be prepared to buy ice. Even in the spring, Missouri afternoons can get quite warm, and keeping your birds cool is essential for meat preservation.
-
What is the plan for lunch? Plan to eat lunch in the field or at a local diner. We are often 45 minutes or more from the hotel, so returning to town for a mid-day break is rarely practical. Discuss the plan with your guide the evening before your hunt.
-
Will I need to help with the spread? Everything will be set when you arrive, but Snow Goose hunting is a team sport. You may be asked to help brush blinds or straighten decoys throughout the day. If the wind shifts, you will be expected to help your guide move blinds accordingly. The faster and more effectively we adjust, the more birds we put on the ground.
-
Should I bring a backup gun? Yes. High-volume shooting in dusty or muddy conditions leads to firearm failures. We strongly suggest bringing a spare shotgun and plenty of oil to the field. We have empty blinds available to keep your extra gear hidden and dry.
-
What gear is recommended for high-volume shooting? To truly capitalize on large flocks, semi-automatic shotguns with magazine extensions are highly encouraged. Most of our guides use Nordic Components extensions to take full advantage of the “no plug” conservation order.
